In many ways, this has been a month of preparation, prayer, and intentional movement forward.

Soli Deo Gloria

This month we begin a meaningful journey through the Five Solas of the Reformation —foundational truths that continue to shape how we understand faith, grace, and our daily walk with God.

What Are the Five Solas of the Reformation?

The Five Solas are five short Latin phrases that came out of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s. They were used to clearly express the core biblical beliefs about how we are saved and how we are meant to live as followers of Christ. Each sola (meaning “alone”) points believers back to God’s authority, grace, and purpose.

They are:

• Sola Scriptura — Scripture alone is our highest authority for faith and life.

• Sola Fide — We are made right with God through faith alone, not by works.

• Sola Gratia — Salvation is a gift of God’s grace alone.

• Solus Christus — Jesus Christ alone is the mediator and Savior.

• Soli Deo Gloria — All of life is to be lived for the glory of God alone.

Together, the Five Solas remind us that our hope, identity, and purpose are fully rooted in God’s truth and His redemptive work — not in human effort or achievement.

We will start with Soli Deo Gloria —“to the glory of God alone.”

At its heart, this truth gently re-centers our perspective. It reminds us that our lives are not meant to be lived for personal recognition, achievement, or approval from others, but as a living reflection of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Every act of obedience, every quiet step of surrender, every use of our gifts becomes an offering that points back to Him.

Soli Deo Gloria invites us to examine our motives and realign our hearts. In our work, relationships, creativity, and service, we are called to live in such a way that God’s character is revealed through us. When we embrace this posture, even ordinary moments become sacred opportunities to honor Him.

As you move through the month of April, consider asking yourself: How can my choices today reflect God’s glory more clearly?

Community Spotlight — Hope Springs Africa

This month we are honored to shine a light on the beautiful work God is doing through our brothers and sisters in Christ in Rwanda, Africa.

Through the faithful outreach of Hope Springs Africa, lives are being touched in meaningful and lasting ways — from community development initiatives to spiritual encouragement and practical support that strengthens families and future generations.

Hope Springs Africa continues to serve as a vessel of hope, compassion, and partnership, reminding us that the Body of Christ extends far beyond borders. Their mission reflects the heart of the Gospel in action — meeting real needs while pointing hearts toward Christ.

In April, missionaries from Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship in Savannah, Georgia, including members of our Rwanda Mission Ministry Team, will be traveling to Rwanda to serve, support, and build relationships alongside this impactful ministry. Having been prayerfully commissioned by our church leadership, this team goes with humility, expectancy, and a shared commitment to be used by God in whatever ways He leads.

When God gave me the vision for Just Show Up - A Daughters Daily Yes to God, I didn’t know all the ways He would use it to touch lives — including my own.

This devotional was born out of quiet mornings, tearful prayers, and moments when I didn’t know what was next — but I showed up anyway. And God did the rest.

Feature Story: “But God.” — My Testimony of Healing and Hope

The lights, the music, the runway — it was more than just a show.
When I stepped onto that stage at Kingdom Life’s Runway for Awareness, celebrating both Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Awareness, I wasn’t just walking in fashion — I was walking in testimony.

I used to think I had it all planned out.
I wanted to live in Ann Arbor, work at the University of Michigan, marry the man of my dreams, and have three sons. By 2006, at just 26 years old, I thought I was right on track.

But God had a different plan.

In June of that year, I found a lump in my breast. I ignored it. I didn’t have insurance, and I told myself I was too young, too healthy, too busy. “I’ll get it checked once I’m hired at UofM,” I said.

Months passed. Nothing changed — except the lump.
When my mother found out, she refused to let me delay any longer. She made an appointment for me at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, and I went — frustrated, but obedient.

Life looked perfect on paper. I was engaged, I got the job at UofM, and I was just beginning my orientation when my phone rang. It was my doctor.

“I need you to come in today,” she said.
I told her I couldn’t — the clinic was in Detroit, and I was in Ann Arbor.
She paused, then said something I’ll never forget:
“I’ll wait.”

That night, I drove back. And at 8 p.m., I heard the words no one ever wants to hear: “You have breast cancer.”

I laughed — not because it was funny, but because it didn’t feel real.
“I’m only 26,” I said. “I can’t have cancer.”

But God.

On the very day I was diagnosed — the very day — my health insurance through UofM began. God had already gone before me.

Through chemo, radiation, and a double mastectomy, I never missed a day of work. I even joined a research study that preserved my fertility. Two years later, I gave birth to my son, Seth.

That’s just one chapter of His goodness.
Today, I’m the mother of two beautiful birth babies and two incredible marriage babies. And I’m married to a wonderful man who walks beside me through it all.

So when I walked that runway this October, I wasn’t just wearing fashion — I was wearing faith. Every step was a declaration: God still heals. God still provides. God still restores.

That day, my “yes” looked small — answering an email, praying with someone, writing a few lines of my book.

When God Says “Be Still”

When I started Be Still 4610, I thought “be still” meant pause. What I didn’t realize then is that stillness is participation— it’s agreeing with God’s timing even when we don’t yet see His plan.

Stillness doesn’t mean nothing is happening. It means the right things are happening at the right pace.

It’s where roots grow deep, foundations strengthen, and clarity begins to take shape.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

Sometimes, God’s best work happens while you’re still holding the line in obedience — when no one else can see what’s shifting beneath the surface.

This past season has been one of those quiet building seasons.
From designing new collections and preparing for our spring storefront, to deepening partnerships like our collaboration with Hope Springs Africa, I’ve been learning that stillness is often God’s strategy, not a setback.

Through it all, He keeps reminding me — “Stay steady. Stay surrendered. The fruit will come.”

JUST SHOW UP

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” – James 4:8

Some days you won’t feel ready. Some days you’ll bring tears instead of answers. But here’s the beautiful part: God isn’t asking for your perfection—He’s asking for your presence. The world teaches us to hustle, perform, and earn. But the kingdom of God calls us to abide. When we choose to just show up—in prayer, in scripture, in worship—we place ourselves in the hands of a God who does the work in us. He transforms us not in our striving but in our surrender.

So, Daughter of God, just come. Come with your fear, your dreams, your confusion, your worship. Come with your authentic self. He already sees you—and He’s already waiting.

LEELLA’S TESTIMONY:

My journey to build a true relationship with the Lord in my adult life took three significant attempts over the span of ten years. The first began when I was thirty. I had come to the stark realization that my life was going nowhere fast, and I desperately needed God to turn things around. But at that time, my understanding of Him was limited — I treated Him like a genie in a bottle. I’d pray, expecting a puff of smoke and an immediate “wish granted” result. But years of rubbing my hands together in prayer didn’t yield the magic I hoped for. My life remained unchanged, or so I thought, and I sank deeper into depression.

By the time I was thirty-seven, I was married to the man I once prayed for and had two beautiful children — also the answers to my prayers. Still, I found myself in the same place: feeling stuck and overwhelmed by sadness. I was “following” God — attending church on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Surely that proved I loved Him! I prayed too… but mostly when I needed ends to meet or when I needed my husband to make me happy. Yet God seemed silent. Why wasn’t He listening?

Then one day, after an argument with my husband, Willie — in which I once again blamed him for not making me happy (how dare he!) — he turned to me and said something I will never forget: “It’s not my job.”

I was stunned. Confused. As I looked down at my baby girl, Jordyn, sleeping peacefully in my arms at just three months old, I sat there in silence and asked myself: if it’s not his job… then whose job is it?

When I finally looked up — I noticed my dusty Bible sitting on the coffee table. The very same Bible I walked past every single day without so much as a backward glance. But on this day, in this moment, something stirred in me. I had an overwhelming urge to pick it up. So I did.

And… I think my version must’ve been written in ancient Hebrew because I couldn’t understand a single word of it! Still, I kept picking it up day after day. Something in me refused to let it go.

The one thing I did understand early on was that in 1 Samuel, King Saul was tormented by evil spirits — and suddenly, I saw myself. That realization shook me. I had been tormented too. That sobering truth scared me into seeking the One who could truly make me whole. I finally recognized that it wasn’t enough to simply profess Jesus or claim religion. I needed to know God, to be known by God, and one day, to make Him known to others.

By the time I was forty, I had finally grown to understand the Bible. I listened to it or read it daily. But even then… something was still missing. Something in me still didn’t feel whole.

I did my best to “fit” God in. After the errands, the office hours, the church services, the family time, and the much-needed “me time” where I’d relax with my all-time favorite shows — Leave it to Beaver, Little House on the Prairie, and The X-Files (don’t question my lineup!) — after all that, I’d make sure to carve out a little time for God.

But despite all my efforts, there was still no grand change within me. Then came the breaking point. After an especially hard day, I collapsed in tears. On my knees, in anger and desperation, I cried out:

“Why won’t You change me?!”

That cry led to two life-altering revelations. One, you’ll find on Day 3 titled “Give it UP.” But the second came directly from God’s Spirit: “Don’t fit Me into your life — fit your life around Me.” That truth hit me like a divine slap in the face. And then the lyrics of Jonathan McReynolds’ song “Make Room” echoed in my spirit. In that moment, I was convicted— what we value most, we make room for. If Jesus is truly first, our time and priorities should show it. I knew then… it was time to clear out the clutter and let Him dwell fully.

From that day forward, I began to pray differently. Daily. Fervently. I begged God to give me a craving for Him like no other — to desire His presence more than my next breath. I asked Him to pull me away from the things that dulled my spirit — the mindless TV watching, the constant audiobook chatter — and to draw me into His Word and His will.

And one day, without fanfare or flashing lights, it happened. And even now — like tonight, as I stay up late writing about His goodness — I see it clearly:

God will give you the will, the desire, and the power to do what pleases Him.

I can still watch TV — I just don’t want to.

I can chase my to-do list like it’s the key to fulfillment — I just choose not to believe that lie anymore.

Because here’s the truth:

When God is the priority, everything else aligns according to His perfect will.

So now I follow His lead.

And my testimony?

My husband is still Willie.

My kids are still beautiful.

Work is still work. I still go to church.

I still have bills to pay and I still enjoy my downtime.

I might watch a show, or I might read a book.

But those things didn’t change — I did.

God changed me.

PRAYER:

Lord, I don’t have all the answers, but I bring You my whole heart. Here I am — not perfect, not always ready — but willing. Help me to keep showing up.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

SCRIPTURE FOCUS – “JUST SHOW UP”

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14

This verse is a reminder that our responsibility is often just to show up — in faith, in worship, in obedience — and let God do what only He can do. He doesn’t need our perfection; He just wants our presence.

DAILY DECLARATION

I will not hide. I will show up and trust God with the rest.

WALK IT OUT – APPLICATION CHALLENGE

Today, take one intentional step of obedience — no matter how small.

• Is it picking up your Bible?

• Is it sending a message of encouragement?

• Is it simply choosing not to give up?

Whatever “showing up” looks like for you today… do it. God honors your presence even before your performance.

• Journal about one area in your life where God is nudging you to show up — emotionally, spiritually, physically, or relationally.

• Invite Him into that space. What fears or doubts do you need to lay down to step into obedience?
